Successful EC bids
Participating in European projects is a valuable source of funds to help local authorities to finance their activities. TTR is the foremost transport consultancy company in the UK helping local authorities to gain European funding. TTR provides ongoing support to Merseytravel and the London European Partnership on Transport (LEPT) with the preparation of European bids and has helped a number of other UK Local Authorities to obtain European funding.
TTR has an excellent track record of submitting successful EC bids. Below is a selection of successful bids:
CLIMATLANTIC ( INTERREG IVB ATLANTIC Area Programme 2009)
TTR submitted the successful CLIMATLANTIC bid in 2009. CLIMATLANTIC runs from 2010 to 2012 and is a transnational project looking at developing strategies at regional and local level towards the reduction of the carbon footprint in the Atlantic Area.
TRAILBLAZER ( Intelligent Energy Europe STEER 2009)
In 2009 TTR led the preparation and submission of the TRAILBLAZER bid to the IEE STEER programme. In this call there was a 20% success rate for all bids to the programme and the TRAILBLAZER bid was successful. TRAILBLAZER runs from 2010 to 2013, has a budget of €1.9 million and aims to achieve a reduction in energy used in urban freight transport showcasing good practice and promoting Delivery and Servicing Plans (DSPs).
START project ( INTERREG IVB ATLANTIC Area Programme 2008)
Working on behalf of Merseytravel, TTR submitted this successful bid to the Interreg IVB programme. The objective of START is to improve the accessibility of EU regions and the interconnection of passenger transport networks. It runs from 2009 to 2011 and has a budget of €7.5 million.
ARCHIMEDES (CIVITAS Plus 2007)
Working on behalf of Aalborg Kommune TTR submitted a bid to the European Commission CIVITAS Plus programme and successfully secured €16 million of European funding for the initiative. TTR was also appointed to lead contract negotiations with the European Commission on behalf of the ARCHIMEDES consortium. ARCHIMEDES runs from 2008 to 2012 and aims to demonstrate clean and efficient transport in European cities.
BIONIC (Intelligent Energy Europe STEER 2007)
Working on behalf of Merseytravel, TTR submitted this successful bid to the IEE STEER programme. The BIONIC project runs from 2008 to 2011 and is addressing the issues of biofuel supply and use in transport specifically from the perspective of Local Authorities.
MIDAS (Intelligent Energy Europe STEER 2005)
Working on behalf of Merseytravel, TTR submitted this successful bid to the IEE STEER programme. MIDAS ran from 2006 to 2008 and aimed to encourage transfer to less energy intense modes of transport by optimising the use of soft measures.
PARTNER (Atlantic Area Interreg IVB 2004)
Working on behalf of Merseytravel, TTR submitted this successful bid to the Interreg IVB programme. PARTNER ran from 2004 to 2007 and dealt with the broad issues of how to develop efficient and sustainable transport systems.
SUCCESS (CIVITAS II 2004)
Working on behalf of Lancashire County Council and La Rochelle , TTR led the successful SUCCESS bid. The bid scored the top evaluation mark and was one of the only two successful UK bids in 2004 for CIVITAS II. The project ran from 2005 to 2009 and involved a wide range of activities including clean vehicles, soft measures, ITS, demand management, personalised travel plans etc.
SMILE (CIVITAS II 2004)
Working on behalf of Norfolk County Council, TTR led the successful SMILE bid. The bid was one of the only two successful UK bids in 2004 for CIVITAS II.
